MAGISTER DIXIT “Maze of Thousand Ways”

PRC Music

This is my first contact with the band and I must say that they really surprised me with the violent black metal contained here. Coming from Canada, these demons released three pieces of epic black art in the time between 1999 and 2007, and now they present another caustic attack. I think that the band has a particular style developed into aggressive and poisonous lines. This shit is melodic and consistent, but it also has a heavy weight of chaotic guitar riffs, and everything is tied by a twisted vocalist which denotes a huge criterion about the genre behind truly destructive vociferations. All is about impious lines and nuclear rhythms aborted by the drummer. Also, they give space to experiment with some alternative pieces of medieval sounds. The result is quite good, although I must say that is nothing I haven’t heard before. The aspect to underline here is the huge creativity between different sections of music, and the great production which is not totally raw; it is focused to give dark atmospheres and a particular perspective of the genre. Recommended only if you are curious about what’s going on with Canadian black metal scene, in terms of modern black metal waves and if you want to meet a great black metal band forged from experimented musicians. – Victor Varas
