SEPTEKH “Apollonian Eyes”
Abyss Records
Is this another death/thrash metal band combining incisive guitar riffs with aggressive lines? Well, they are from Sweden and truly they know what they are doing. This is the third EP released in three years and I liked the way they compose high octane lines and hyper violent melodies. Of course they have all the Swedish old sound coming from the early 90’s, but they also know how to take advantage of the musical skills and everyone did a great job on the recording. These four tracks are forged in aggression and metallic blood, as we notice the great structure in “Vlad Tepes” which is my favorite track, btw. Vocalist sounds crude and thrashers, and the result is balanced between aggression and epic lines. I can’t say that this is the most original EP I’ve heard this year, but the band sounds great and very mature musically speaking. It’s recommended for those who are looking for good metal bands growing up from the Nordic underground scene. At last, I have to say that the cover art is the most HORRIBLE I’ve seen these years, and I hope they’ll get a cover artist soon. – Victor Varas
