Lychgate review at Zombie Ritual Zine

Gilead Media

I can’t remember when was the last time I got true interest for an esoteric black metal Debut album, after I hear it for first time. These dark entities come from UK and they really impressed me with their sound. It features members from Luna Aurora and Esoteric, and you’ll know that it’s deeply rooted in funeral doom and atmospheric lugubrious black metal. I really liked the dark lines forged in chaotic guitar riffs and explosive rhythms, like in track “Triumphalism” which is an excellent manifestation full of solid miasmas and pure dark feelings. If you ask me, one of the most important aspects that give personality is the keyboards atmospheres which really make an ominous a sonic wall throughout the entire album. G. A. Chandler vocalist has a deep red throat and he knows how to use it in the right moment to transmit particular states of mind and instinctive screams. All is tied by a very oppressive production, which sounds organic, painful and powerful. Somehow, this album caught my hairy ears to the point of repeat it a couple of times again. This is a great Debut album and it’s recommended for lovers of the most chaotic, down tempo, poisonous side of the genre. – Victor Varas
