LELAHELL “Al Insane... The (Re)Birth of Abderrahmane”
Horror Pain Gore Death Productions
Finally! I will review my first African metal band and it comes from Algeria. After an EP release in 2012, this is the debut album for the band, although seems like they have experience in music business, as they played in different bands before.
This sounds brutal, rotten and technical. As the album is going, you can hear many influences here and there, mainly from Polish sound. But I have to say that for moments they recalled me American death metal bands, full of morbidity and bloody riffs. Also, vocals are furious and come deep from the throat. Seems like this guy Lelahel (guitars and vocals) is full talent musician and he composed excellent guitar lines into complex structures. All is tied by a dark atmosphere, introspective lines and massive guitar riffs, which gives a big cannibalistic/gore touch, if you know what I mean. It’s a great death metal album you can’t miss if you are looking for jewels from uncommon places worldwide. – Victor Varas
