APOCROPHEX “Suspended from the Cosmic Altaar”

Manicidic Records

This is extremely technical, complex and brutal. Coming from New Jersey, this new entity delivers a unique form of brutal death metal with high musical skills and putrid atmospheres in all tracks. The most impressive thing is that is a two-guys band.

Multi-instrumentalist Justin Buell has experience in brutal bands, and his compositions really worth every cent. All tracks have musical references to the most aggressive and complex side of the genre, but Justin created quite violent miasmas through apocalyptic guitar lines and extremely technical structures. I liked because it delivers fresh blood to the genre but at the same time it has thick roots in old school sounds. In the other hand, Pete Colucci did a great job at vocals. Everything denotes that he is huge fan of ancient bands like Incantation, Morbid Angel, Bolt Thrower, Demilich, etc. Of course he recorded excellent guttural lines in the vein of old school and denotes a huge knowledge of the genre. All in all, this is a great debut album of brutal death metal, highly recommended for fans of morbidity and high musical resources. – Victor Varas
