HOLYCIDE “Toxic Mutation”

Xtreem Music

This is excellent thrash metal attack from Spain, featuring Dave Rotten (Avulsed) in vocals. Yep, it seems like mister Podrido has a very versatile throat as he made an excellent work in this band. Music sounds extremely ferocious, fast and technical.

Of course this band is formed by quite experienced people as all tracks are mature and solid musically speaking. Also, they don’t hide the influences mainly taken from American old legends like Exodus, Whiplash, Nuclear Assault, etc. All tracks share the same spirit of mature thrash metal with high doses of complexity, guitar arrangements and over all, good old vibes. Also, I admit that the band knows how to balance fast structures with slow tempo sections, like in track “Apocalypse Riders” which is a good example forged in caustic guitar lines and killer rhythms. All in all, it’s a good debut album for a quite experienced team of musicians. As extra info, this album includes a cover version of “Merciless Death” from Dark Angel. – Victor Varas
