A LIE NATION “Human Waves”

Self released

This is a great debut. I usually keep away from melodic hybrids of black metal music, but this case is totally different as I hear tons of fresh ideas and excellent production. Coming from Oulu, Finland, these guys have been active since 2009 and I must say that they have clear what they want and they forged an own sound since the beginning.

All tracks have excellent lines with authentic metallic spirit and solid results. It seems like the band took its time to manufacture high octane musical arrangements, and definitive it sounds aggressive, depressive and clear at the same time. There’s no room for sweetness here if you know what I mean. Also, this is one of the most eclectic metal debuts I’ve heard this year, as the band includes guitar riffs and structures from different distinct sources, but actually they know when time to cut sections, with good taste and class. These guys incorporate some modern elements in specific moments, but as aforementioned, everything is tied with class, and it sounds enjoyable. My entire respect and support for this band coming from the underground scene. I’m sure that I’ll see this name in properly big festivals soon. – Victor Varas
