POSSESSOR “Stay Dead”

Self released

After a debut album in 2014, these guys released a new EP this year. I think this is going to call the attention of many of you, as it’s an interesting hybrid of thrash metal with stoner rock. Of course, the result sounds solid and quite eclectic, but the band has good taste and really took good elements from these and other genres.

There are some mistakes to fix here and there, and personally I don’t like this atmosphere made by cyclic guitar riffs, where everything is repeated four times; also, I find really good moments in vocals (Black Sabbath’s legacy), but there are others moments where Graham Bywater really sounds a bit weak and drowned. If you ask me, this young band from UK has to work a bit more, but anyway they offer a good release this time. We have four tracks full of obscurity and doomed feelings. Hopefully they will release even better material in the future. – Victor Varas
