ARCHEMORON “Sulphur and Fire”

Cryptia Productions

This is a great piece of Hellenic black metal and I’m sure many of you will be interested. It sounds epic, cathartic and with a solid metallic spirit in the whole production as recording is rude, crude and direct.

Coming from Athens, this holocaustic entity was formed in 1999 or something, under the name of Ancestor. Of course they have the heritage of good black metal in the area, but what called my attention is those sharp guitar riffs and extremely well- conceived sections, which transmit excellent lines in the vein of old European gods in the genre. I admit that this band has found an own style on the second album, and it seems like they don’t want to add strange elements to the blend. If you ask me, this album is balanced, classy and denotes good taste musically speaking. Also, I liked how guitarist Typhonas included some excellent solos in specific moments and denotes an experienced musician in extreme metal business. This is highly recommended if you follow Hellenic black metal genre and if you want to know what’s going on behind war spirit of underground metal scene. – Victor Varas
