MALPHAS “Occult Propaganda”

BMTC Records

Certainly Switzerland never disappoints me in black metal genre. It’s a debut EP with three long lasting tracks full of painful guitar riffs, occultism lines and really dark atmospheres.

Everything is raw, obscured and caustic, even recording sounds direct in your face, and these motherfuckers know how to balance killer guitar riffs with apocalyptic sections. Also, they dare to include some funeral elements in specific moments which give a notorious personal seal to the band. This is a debut opus full of dark elements and bad blood, and seems to be highly influenced by Nordic black metal gods, but also seems to be looking for a specific atmosphere for occultism hymns. It’s not bad at all and of course denotes people involved in the genre for many years. – Victor Varas
