NAR MATTARU “Ancient Atomic Warfare”

I, Voidhanger Records

I’m sure I read about this Chilean entity, somewhere in a South American fanzine. This is my first encounter with them and my head is literally mashed because of high octane guitar riffs and hyper-low-tuned vocal lines.

This is nothing less than abysmal death metal with thick roots in 90’s sound and apocalyptic structures. Of course we are talking about old metal warriors who have been part of bands like Dominus, Denying Nazarene, and many other from that country. This is a great second opus forged in great guitar riffs and good taste in the genre. If you ask me, these guys really know how to balance mid pace structures and vertiginous attack. Also, this is a band that don’t need to demonstrate anything since seems like they’ve been true worshippers of the genre for a long time. If you are looking for rotten jewels in South American underground scene, don’t hesitate to get this bloody diamond. It’s ominous, morbid and rotten, and I’m pretty sure it will provoke a painful scarification in your soul, since the first track. It’s highly recommended!! – Victor Varas
