DYING EMPIRE “Dystopia”

Self-release

Well this is another debut full length album coming from Germany, and it’s not bad at all. It’s forged in melodic death metal with high doses of fury; thrash metal genre structures, and modern elements.

I admit that this sound fresh, complex and punkish at the same time, with influences from Germanic thrash metal as well as melodic death metal bands from USA. Vocalist Gastel has the experience of a previous band called Korpus, and he delivers a quite particular style of guttural vocals. Also, these guys composed excellent musical arrangements in the entire album, as it denotes people with high skills on the instrument especially in guitar department. Of course, this sound like a hybrid of aggressive thrash metal with death metal, but the band knows how to sound, and they really make a good work. All in all, this is a great self-released album to listen, if you like modern elements in death metal music. – Victor Varas
