FUNEBRIA “Dekatherion: Ten Years of Hate & Pride”
This is my third contact with metal scene from Venezuela, and I must say that every time I hear about metal bands from that country, they all capture my attention.
It’s nothing but a solid, rabid and blasphemous form of black metal, with tons of excellent rhythm guitars and ultra-venomous vocal lines. All tracks have holocaustic structures, bad blood and high doses of technical elements, but I must say I’m not talking about irregular compasses or complex sections. I’m talking about authentic knowledge of a raw recording mean to be, if you know what I’m talking about. Everything is tied by morbid atmospheres, stinky guitar lines and pure Armageddon. Also, this band has great ideas inside instrumental sections which denote experienced people here. Most of these tracks have references to Greek black metal bands and Polish metal scene, but I admit that the musicians are looking for own sound and own musical way. This is one of the best Latin-American black metal albums I’ve heard lately, although I can’t see anything new for the genre here. I’m sure it will call your attention if you are a purist in black metal music, and you are looking for gems. It’s highly recommended! – Victor Varas
