Well, released in 2015, this is the debut album of guitarist from Hungarian beast FROST, Tátrai Csaba, and it’s totally forged in misanthropic fury.
Based in Miskolc, Hungary, this guy created an excellent album full of dense atmospheres, cathartic vocals and heavy touches of chaos. Actually, all tracks have very intense guitar riffs on complex structures, and he dares to add some experimental stuff here and there. Of course this contains good roots in Nordic old beasts, but it also has references of atmospheric black metal forged in 90’s, where every section of the songs has a wall of sound formed by keyboards. Also, there are tons of guitar arrangements and acoustic passages in the whole album, which gives a big personality to the sound. It seems like Tátrai created a quite introspective opus here, with existential lyrics and extremely morbid. My only complaint is the recording; it can have a better mix work. Anyway, it’s a good addition for your collection of Hungarian black metal and I’m sure you will keep. As extra info, this CD includes a cover version of “Ensorcelled by Khaos”, original from Emperor. According to official page, the band released an EP and a new album this year. – Victor Varas
